I might be completely biased, but Sydney is definitely the best city in Australia. We’ve got the great weather, the incredible beaches, and basically just a ton of stuff to do to occupy your day. I decided to list my top 50 things to do in the city – it’s a mix of touristy hotspots as well as some local gems. I limited it to things within the inner-city so they’re all really easy to get to. Let me know if you think I’ve missed something major, I’m always on the hunt for new places to go. Here’s the video, with a full list below!

  1. Watch a sunrise at Bondi Beach.
  2. Do the Bondi to Bronte coastal walk.
  3. Make sure you stop off at the Tamarama rocks to watch the surfers.
  4. Take a dip in the ocean bath at Bronte.
  5. Dry off and stroll through the Waverly cemetery – it’s gotta be the most beautiful one in the world.
  6. Have an açai bowl at My Fruitologist on Bondi Road. They’re as big as your head!
  7. Check out the Paddington Reservoir Garden for a bit of zen in your day.
  8. Then walk around the streets of Paddington and check out the loooovely houses.
  9. Stop in at Nutie in Surry Hills for a seriously delicious vegan and gluten-free donut. I promise you’ll love it even if you don’t eat vegan!
  10. Eat the best dumplings of your life at Chinatown Noodle Restaurant. Order the braised eggplant and thank me later!
  11. Walk down Kimber Lane in Chinatown and marvel at the street art.
  12. Make your way through the maze that is Paddy’s Markets.
  13. Spend a sunny afternoon in the Sydney Botanic Gardens.
  14. And be sure to stop by the succulent garden while you’re there!
  15. Walk around the harbour for some of the best views of Sydney.
  16. Then take a selfie with the Opera House!
  17. Get your culture fix at the Art Gallery Of NSW.
  18. Detour through Angel Place to hear the sounds of birds native to Sydney.
  19. Check out the modern art at the MCA.
  20. Take the ferry over to Watson’s Bay.
  21. Then have a drink or lunch at the Boutique Hotel right on the water. Their frosé is so good.
  22. Walk off your lunch by going up the hill to the Hornby lighthouse.
  23. Then walk around to the Gap.
  24. Spend your day at a harbour beach, like Milk Beach or Lady Bay.
  25. Eat the best Bánh Mì in Sydney at Marrickville Pork Roll.
  26. Then have the city’s best gelato at Cow and Moon in Enmore.
  27. Wander through the streets of Newtown spotting all the street art.
  28. Then walk up King Street and call in at all the vintage shops to get yourself a new (old) outfit.
  29. Have fresh-as-hell fish and chips at the Fish Markets – just beware of seagulls!
  30. Stop in at one of Sydney’s MANY coffee shops to drink some of the best coffee in the world.
  31. (Or be stingy like me and get a coffee from 7/11 for $1.)
  32. Head to Balmoral and have an incredibly scenic coffee or meal right on the water at the Boat House.
  33. Walk along the foreshore in Cremorne and see some of my favourite houses in Sydney with a killer view of the harbour.
  34. See if you can spot McCallum pool and why it’s so damn beautiful.
  35. Eat smashed avo on toast at least once.
  36. Walk through the Sydney Uni campus and pretend like you’re at Hogwarts – all the buildings are so pretty!
  37. Cut through the graffiti tunnel when you’re there – the art is constantly changing.
  38. Pick up some fresh produce at the Carriageworks Farmer’s Market in Eveleigh on a Saturday.
  39. Also on a Saturday, meander through Glebe Markets. It’s got everything from clothes and plants, to food and second-hand books.
  40. Go to Leichhardt for some seriously good Italian food. Just wander up and down Norton Street until something takes your fancy.
  41. Then have coffee and ice cream at Bar Italia. It’s a Sydney institution.
  42. Visit Luna Park! It’s free to walk around, you just pay per ride. The ferris wheel has an incredible view of the harbour.
  43. Then walk around the water for about ten minutes until you get to Wendy’s Secret Garden. You’ll feel like you’re in a totally different world.
  44. Continue your walk around to Blues Point, which I think is the most beautiful view of the city.
  45. Swim in the most photogenic pool in the city, North Sydney Pool.
  46. Have 2-for-1 cocktails during the happy hour at Different Drummer.
  47. Walk (or run, or cycle) through Centennial Park.
  48. Window shop in the QVB. Head up to the top floor to take in all it’s splendour.
  49. Find a street library or book box, where you can donate a book or grab one for free.
  50. Finally, cap it all off with a rooftop drink. There are a bunch around the city, I recommend Sweeny’s, The Glenmore, or East Village.
